Rainbow Experiment

Rainbow Experiment

Purpose: We are trying to make a rainbow and find out what happens when we shine the light on a mirror with water inside of a glass bowl.

Materials: Water, mirror, 1 glass bowl, and a white piece of paper or book.

Steps:
1. Fill your glass bowl with water until it is almost full.
2. Then, grab your mirror and put the point/corner at the bottom of the bowl.
3. Grab your flashlight or torch and shine it on the mirror.
4. Try and move your flashlight or mirror because it will never appear on your first try.
5. You will see a rainbow on your paper or book if you put it in front of the mirror.

Results. I noticed that we never get the rainbow immediately because we have to move the flashlight and mirror around so the rainbow can appear on the book.

Conclusion: Do you wonder how this experiment works? Well, let me explain. The white light from the flashlight goes through the water and m splits into 7 different colors, (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. Then, the mirror reflects it back onto the book.
