Refugee Reviews
Refugee Reviews
Faiana - An adult read this book with his kid and they started to see bad words
repeatedly, “hell hell hell” over and over again. They liked the book but wished
it did not have the word hell in it.

Faiana - Most of the comments were saying that they have read the book Refugee

like it too.

Identity Artwork
This term, our topic for school is identity, In Room 11, we have been making All About Me posters and explosion boxes. Yesterday, Miss Tupou had an idea to do an artwork about ourselves. We put our name, 10 things that we like - illustrated only, and the meaning of our name. My artwork was very vibrant and colourful. It had food, Glen Taylor logo, my family, and other things.
Talanoa Night
Yesterday afternoon, Glen Taylor had Talanoa night. Talanoa night is when your family meets your teacher and talk about our learning. At 5:30 my family and I went to school and I saw my friend Faiana playing basketball at the courts. She waved hi to me and said that Miss Tupou was in the staff room drinking tea. My family and I sat on the bench and waited for her to finish. When she came back, together, we all went into Room 11 and took a seat. Miss Tupou started to ask questions and I translated it back to my step dad because he didn't know how to speak English. Overall, I think that everything went well.

Mbot Blink Activity 1
In robotics class, we have been learning about mbots and the things we can do with them. This week, we are trying to change the colour of the lights into red and blue on each sides one at a time. To change the colours, we use a website called Mblock.

What Is Special About Myanmar?
- General Statement:
Myanmar is a country located in SouthEast Asia with a population of 54 million people. In 1989,
the military government had changed the country name from Burma to Myanmar to free the
country from the British colony/territory. Here are some things I believe are special about
Myanmar. First is Thingyan, second is clothing and third is places in Myanmar.
Series Of Explanatory Statement:
Thingyan is the Burmese New Year Festival that usually takes place in the
middle of April. It is a Buddhist water festival celebrated up to 4 to 5 days - the dates of the
festivals are calculated based on the Burmese calendar.
Burmese people wear a particular type of clothing. Men wear paso and women wear
longyi. Paso and longyi are plain fabric or crossed patterns worn around your waist and
running down to your feet.
When you go to Myanmar, there are lots of beautiful places to visit. For example, the most two
popular places. Bagan Temple and Shwedagon Pagoda. These places have the most engaging and
amazing view.
Conclusion:
Myanmar is very special to me and I am very proud of being Burmese. The celebrations, dances and
People are all very important to me and I am very thankful for my country/culture.
